Iconiq, a money manager and wealth adviser for some of Silicon Valley’s biggest stars, is venturing into the medical device realm, one of many investment sectors that have taken a back seat to the artificial intelligence boom.

The San Francisco-based firm is teaming up with Ajax Health, a specialist in developing new companies to target specific opportunities in the medical device market. The two partners are starting a new money manager that will make growth-oriented control investments in life sciences companies.
