William von Mueffling has stopped managing outside money despite ending last year with more than $20 billion of fee-paying assets at his private investment advisory firm.
Cantillon Capital Management, founded by von Mueffling in 2003, terminated its registration with the US Securities and Exchange Commission in August, according to the agency’s website. That followed a decision by management earlier this year to return capital to all of its external clients, a person familiar with the situation said.
